Nuhadra, 7 December 2014 – Assyrian Aid Society of Iraq (AAS-I) and its sister organization Assyrian Aid Society of America (AAS-A) recently executed an aid operation that reached 115 families who have recently fled Mosul and are now living in the village of Tillan, Nahla, district of the Nuhadra (Dohuk) Governate. The aid serving the internally displaced families included sleeping material of blankets, mattresses and pillows on December 7, 2014.

The IDPs in this region are living in bitter conditions as they are facing rough cold winters in the mountainous region of Nahla. The Assyrian Aid Society of Iraq spent time with the IDPs to understand their important needs to continue executing their aid relief projects. With the support from the Assyrian Evangelical Church of San Jose, the AAS-I was able to provide support for these families in Tillan. As Iraq’s humanitarian crisis worsens and the IDPs are still not able to move back to their original homes, the AAS-I continues to receive requests to help the vulnerable IDPs who have fled to other villages. #AssyrianAid #IraqCrisis #Iraq #Assyrian
