Sunnyvale, 9 November 2014 – As the humanitarian crisis in Iraq escalates, the Assyrian Aid Society of America continues to raise awareness about the current situation of Assyrians and other minorities in Northern Iraq who are facing persecution under Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the Assyrian Aid Society of America recently held a presentation at the Iranian Christian Church on November 9, 2014 about the humanitarian needs of the internally displaced persons in Northern Iraq. Vladimir Moghaddasi, supporter of the Assyrian Aid Society of America and report presenter, emphasized the importance of charitable donations that will help clothe and feed the hundreds of thousands of people who have left their homes with nothing but the clothes on their back. “We are blessed and thankful to see our Christian brothers and sisters at the Iranian Christian Church in Sunnyvale helping displaced Assyrian Christians who are being persecuted for their faith in Northern Iraq.”

On Sunday, November 9, 2014, members of the Persian-American community gathered at the Iranian Christian Church in Sunnyvale, CA to hear a report on the needs of the Assyrians who have fled their homes since the ISIS takeover of Mosul in June 2014.

Amir Amiri, Deacon of the Iranian Christian Church in Sunnyvale, states that the “Bible says if one part of the body of Christ suffers, every part suffers with it.” Mr. Amiri organized the awareness report with the Iranian Christian Church because he knows that there is a dire need of humanitarian assistance. “We at the Iranian Christian Church share in the suffering of our Christian brothers and sisters and will continuously keep them in our prayers.”
