It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Homer Ashurian in Chicago.

Homer Ashurian was a great philanthropist and a noble Assyrian, a true friend and champion of our people. At the Assyrian Aid Society of America we especially remember his support and leadership with the Assyrian Universal Alliance Foundation in funding a project that enabled our Assyrian schools in the Homeland to translate and print on demand textbooks for grades one through twelve, insuring that tens of thousands of students will have the most up to date school books for many years to come.

He was also an avid supporter of our Mesopotamian Night cultural performances in Chicago. His rich legacy of giving, scholarship, and dedicated public service both in Chicago and in Iran has been a great gift and will long be remembered.

The thoughts and prayers of our Board of Directors, and those of our Chicago Chapter officers, are with his wife Suzie, their children Pastor Tiglad and Ramin, and all whose lives he touched.
