The Assyrian Aid Society of America and the Assyrian Aid Society of Australia participated in the opening of the United Nations General Assembly Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples Issues on Monday, April 17, 2023, in its twenty-second session, where Mrs. Karmella Borashan from AAS of America and Mrs. Shoushan Tower, Mr. Richard Yalda participated from AAS Australia.The UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) is an advisory body to the Economic and Social Council mandated to discuss indigenous issues related to the economic and social development, culture, environment, education, health and human rights.
Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq has special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
