1HUMANITARIAN RELIEFRelief Program for IDPs & Needy FamiliesOther villagesDue to security conditions in the major cities such as Baghdad and Mosul, hundreds of families fled their homes to the villages in the north to seek shelter with relatives and or friends who were already faced with poor living conditions.

In an effort to provide humanitarian relief, we responded by implementing a relief program to cover basic needs of 1000 families.

Support included distribution of food, blankets and heating for the affected families.

It is crucial to continue this program as the number of families affected continue to increase.

6RECONSTRUCTION7 MonthsConstructing Clinic Center in Nahla Region
Nahla R.
Belmand
There are seven villages in Nahla region which did not have access to a medical centre. As a result, locals had difficulty accessing medical treatments for cases such as accidents, injuries, etc.

Additionally, the roads leading to the region were also not paved, therefore it posed a major safety concern for locals seeking access to medical services in other areas.

AAS developed a solution to construct a medical centre in the Bilmend village, situated in the central Nahla region for ease of access by the locals. After communicating to the Ministry of Health to ensure that medical instruments and staff were to be allocated as resources, AAS began construction on April 28th and completed by November 28th, 2004.

The building area is 178m2. It consists of 4 rooms (4×4m), a store (4×3m) with bathrooms.
